DIY Windmill
If you’re like me, you enjoy the sense of accomplishment that comes from doing your own projects. Contrary to the belief of some, a do it yourself windmill is very doable. By taking the right steps, you’ll be well on your way to building the perfect windmill for you.
One reason to build a windmill is to harness the free power of the Earth, so that you can reduce or eliminate those high, overpriced power bills.

Before doing anything, you must know how much energy you’re using. It’s a simple process though. Looking at recent energy bills will do the trick. Don’t skip this step. By knowing how much power you use, you’ll know how much power you need to produce. This will determine what size and type of windmill you need to build.
Here’s another energy tip. Review your consumption of energy. There’s probably several ways to reduce energy use. Perhaps you have lights on in rooms where no one is. Do you have power strips in your home? Do you actually shut them off?
The next step is to assess the wind. Does your area have wind daily or most days of the week? So, what’s the wind flow like? Maybe your city/town/etc experiences daily wind flow of 3-7mph.
Where will your windmill be located? Perhaps you can build a grand windmill or maybe you need to build a micro windmill.
Another decision is deciding on whether or not to buy a windmill kit or to buy a guide (yes) and then buy the kit or parts on their own. I’d be beside myself if I didn’t tell you to get a how to build a DIY windmill guide to make your life easier. Take the right measures before starting your DIY windmill project and you’ll be in great shape. Good luck with your new windmill project.
